Cindy has a BA in Linguistics and Mathematics from the University of Nottingham, and completed her PhD Computing thesis researching handwriting recognition at Nottingham Trent University. Whilst undertaking her research she also lectured in computing.
Cindy left academia in 1992 and worked at Cambridge based computing companies Harlequin and ARM over a ten year period. In 2003 she re-trained as a Maths teacher and began teaching in a local Cambridge secondary school. She spent the next ten years there, rising to become the joint head of the Maths department.
Cindy joined Abbey College Cambridge as our Head of Mathematics in July 2014. Since then she has co-ordinated the growth of the department and helped guide our students to phenomenal successes in their GCSE and A Level examinations, and in national maths competitions.
In her spare time Cindy enjoys hill walking, and riding her horses.
