While most Abbey College Cambridge students were enjoying a well-earned half-term break, our budding doctors attended a week long medicine boot camp organised by our natural sciences teachers! Over the course of the week they learned about the role of doctors, developed useful practical and application skills, and they heard from real doctors and former Abbey College Cambridge students who are now studying at medical school.
Video interviews with former Abbey College Cambridge students Victoria and Ola who helped out during the week can be viewed via our college YouTube channel.
Some of our students got a taste of Viking culture (and proper cold weather!) on our half term trip to Iceland. During the four day trip students explored Helsinki, the Reyjkanes Peninsula, toured the Golden Circle and took a dip in the volcanically heated Blue Lagoon!
We organised a range of fun activities for students staying in our boarding over half-term. These included music, baking, sushi making and bowling!
With 29 certificates between them, our year 10 students have continued our tradition of success in this year’s Intermediate Mathematical Challenge. The breakdown of awards was 10 gold, 6 silver and 13 bronze. All gold winners will go through to the next round of the challenge. A special note for Uruguayan student John Lorusso, who achieved full marks!
